The Highrollers packed up and headed north to Charlotte, NC last weekend for their second away bout of the 2011 season. The Charlotte Roller Girls hosted the derby double-header in front of a sold-out crowd at the Grady Cole Center.

LCHR’s Bruisin’ Betties hit the track first, taking on Charlotte’s B-team, the B Dazzlers. This was the debut bout for 2010 skater tots Magnolia Doom, Lulu Cthulhu, Auburn Assassin, and Dottie Demento. The Betties started off strong with Major Threat pulling down grand slams, but soon the B Dazzlers took the lead and held it for the remainder of the bout. The Betties fought hard until the very end, and the final score was Charlotte B Dazzlers 186, LCHR Bruisin’ Betties 87.

The All-Star bout was an all-out fight from the very first jam. Tropikally Punch struck first to put the Highrollers on the board, but Charlotte’s fast jammers and strong blockers soon put the score in their favor. The Highrollers rallied back under the on-track leadership of captains Detroit Funk and DJ Pain, focusing on communication, teamwork, and smart strategies.  The ladies in pink were up at the half, and held on to the lead throughout the hard-hitting, fast-paced second half to take home the win! The final score was LCHR All-Stars 163, Charlotte All-Stars 114.

Both Charlotte and LCHR are WFTDA Apprentice Leagues, and this double-header was LCHR’s first official WFTDA Regulation bout!
