Freezin’ For A Reason

What are your plans for New Year’s Day?

Join us on Sullivan’s Island for the Dunleavy’s Pub Polar Plunge! The Highrollers will join hundreds of crazies as we dash into the cold waters of the Atlantic. Why would we do such a thing? We are Freezin’ for A Reason – to support Special Olympics South Carolina!

The fun starts at 11:00AM, with crowds gathering around Dunleavy’s Pub for food and drink before the big plunge. Highrollers and Special Olympians will be in the crowd, collecting donations. The walk to the beach begins at 12:30PM, and then we go for the plunge at 1:00PM!

The Special Olympics allow athletes with intellectual disabilities to experience the fun, confidence, healthfulness and teamwork of sports, year-round. Help us support this great cause by making a donation on our firstgiving page. The goal this event is to raise enough money for both the 2012 Mid Winter Games at the Citadel and the 2012 Summer Games at Ft. Jackson.

Ring in the New Year in a big way – join us at Dunleavy’s Pub located at 2213 Middle Street on Sullivan’s Island and take the plunge with the Highrollers!

The Lowcountry Highrollers are proud to announce that we have been accepted as a full member league of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA),  the national governing body for women’s amateur flat track roller derby in the United States.

As a new member of WFTDA, the Highrollers join the ranks of over 130 all-female, skater owned and operated leagues nationwide that have united to lead the growing sport of women’s flat track roller derby.  WFTDA member leagues engage in sanctioned interleague play, including regional and national tournaments.  The Highrollers are the newest Class B members in the East region.

The Lowcountry Highrollers are  the first league in the state of South Carolina to be accepted into WFTDA! Thank you to all of our league members who worked so hard to make this happen, as well as the leagues who helped us on our journey.

We’re so excited to kick off our 2012 season as a WFTDA league! Our upcoming season schedule will be posted soon.
