Want to be a Lowcountry Highroller? We hold skater tryouts every fall, which are open to all women ages 18 and older. To keep up to date on all the latest tryout information, sign up for our Prospective Skater email list. Young ladies ages 10-17 who want to play derby are invited to join our Junior Derby League.

Public open skate is available at Hot Wheels Skating Center (1523 Folly Road, Charleston) every Thursday from 7-9pm. This is an adult skate session, and several Highrollers attend each week for additional skate time and to assist skaters preparing for team tryouts.

The Highrollers also have a Recreational League, which offers the opportunity to play low-impact roller derby without the huge time and attendance commitment required of competitive league derby.

Don’t want to skate, but still want to be a part of the league? There are many ways to get involved with the Lowcountry Highrollers that don’t require you to be on wheels.

Volunteer!

Our bouts would not be possible without our corps of volunteers. Bout day volunteers help us with all kinds of tasks, from taking tickets, selling merchandise, working security, putting down and taking up our skate floor, etc. All bout-day volunteers get a t-shirt and free admission to the bout. For more information join our volunteer group on Facebook.

Become an NSO!

A Non-Skating Official (NSO) is a member of our Ref Corps, and he or she can hold a wide variety of positions: penalty tracker, scoreboard operator, penalty box timer, scorekeeper, jam timer, etc.  NSOs are needed especially on bout day, but are also called in to some practice days. Contact our Ref/NSO liaison, Afrodite Superstar, for more information.
